ABOUT US

Founded in 2025, the Ontario Metropolitan Harmonic Collective aims to become a crucial performance opportunity for composers across Ontario, Canada. Bach, Berlioz, Berg, and Bernstein have their celebrations, but where are new voices supposed to break in? If we hope to build a continuing legacy of new art music in our great province, then we need to create a vibrant ecosystem for new compositions to be performed.

There is room for an art music scene where impassioned performers perform works from local composers in unconventional and interesting spaces. A new culture can be grown, enticing untapped audiences. There are composers in our backyards writing compelling and exciting aesthetic works — let's give them an opportunity to share those works with the waiting world. A world that often forgets classical music is a living genre that's just as relevant as ever.

Our goals include;

  • a regular concert season, prioritizing new and unperformed works by living Ontario composers

  • opportunities for both emerging and established composers

  • mentorship programs to foster the next generation of composers

  • championing composers from diverse and under-represented demographics

  • readings, workshops, recordings, and recital assistance

  • collaborations with soloists, writers, poets, choirs, ensembles, and other composers

  • highlighting works that celebrate a cohesive and harmonic aesthetic
